About Growing Gray USA

Growing Gray USA is a resource for the adult children of aging parents. This group of folks has unique challenges raising their own children (and perhaps grandchildren) and having to serve in various levels of being a caregiver for their own parents as they age. Our goal is to take our years of experience in working and caring for seniors and help this “graying” population as they seek to make the best choices for their families.

Roger L. “Chip” Mitchell is the founder of Growing Gray USA. Having spent the past decade as the owner and operator of Homecare franchises in the Northwest Georgia and Chattanooga Tenessee region, Chip and his staff have cared for hundreds of clients and employed hundreds of caregivers throughout the region. In preparation for opening his home care location, Chip became a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the State of Georgia. Most likely Chip is part of a small group of folks who have earned both an MBA and a CNA.

Prior to opening his home care locations, Chip had served his Alma Mater as the Director of Alumni Services and Development at Shorter University. In this role, he got to meet and work with many wonderful alumni, but his fondest memories were his relationships with seniors.

In addition, Chip has served various churches as both a Minister of Music as well as a Deacon. Through these opportunities, he has learned through ministering to both seniors as well as their adult children who have the added responsibility of making caregiving decisions for their aging parents.

In his own family, Chip was able to provide care to many of his grandparents, great uncles and aunts, and extended family through his homecare business. Chip’s parents passed away unexpectedly in the past few years. This caused Chip to reevaluate some of the reasons why he went into caregiving in the first place. While his passion was no longer to help provide hands-on care to seniors he has chosen this website as a way to help share the knowledge he has gained with families that are going through the struggle of how to deal with the changes that come from elderly parents getting older.

Currently, Chip’s primary occupation is as the Owner of Ensemble Bookkeeping which specializes in the Bookkeeping needs of Home Care Providers and Nonprofit Organizations.

Recently, Chip, had his first book published. KEYS TO INDEPENDENCE: Navigating the Difficult Transition of Stopping An Elderly Parent From Driving. You can find a list of all of Chip’s published books here.

It is our hope that this site serves you well and gives you some guidance and comfort as you are seeking the best solutions for your family.
